About Surrey's Heritage Conservation
Efforts to conserve our heritage through City initiative date back to the 1970s when the first heritage site, the Semiahmoo Trail, was designated by Council. The City's Heritage Advisory Commission came into being in 1976, our Community Heritage Register was established in 1997, and we developed our Heritage Management Plan in 2000. In 2010, we undertook a strategic review of the our heritage policies, practices and resources, which resulted in a renewed vision for Surrey's heritage program.
Heritage Maintenance Grants
Protected heritage properties are eligible for maintenance grants. Our Heritage Financial and Non-Financial Support Guide provides more information for owners of protected heritage properties. To apply, complete and submit the Building Preservation Program Application for Financial Assistance.
