Large Item Pickup Program

Get large items, including furniture, stoves and mattresses, picked up for free.

Eligibility & annual limits

  • Households with City waste collection: up to 6 items per year.
  • Households with registered secondary suites: up to 8 items per year.
  • The item count resets to zero each year, and unused pickups cannot be carried over.
  • Items placed at curbside without a scheduled pickup may be considered illegally dumped and are subject to fines.

Apartments
  • Apartment buildings with City recycling: up to 4 items per year.
  • Contact your property manager or strata to schedule a pickup.
  • If your building is not registered, ask your property manager to email rethinkwaste@surrey.ca.

Preparation guidelines

To ensure your items are collected smoothly, please follow these important guidelines:

  • Set Out Time: Place items at your designated collection point by 7:30 am on your scheduled collection day.
  • Collection Hours: Items may be picked up any time between 7:30 am and 7:30 pm.
  • Multiple Vehicles: Different types of items may be collected by different trucks throughout the day. Please leave all items accessible until the end of the day.

Mattress & Box Spring Requirements

  • Must be individually wrapped and sealed in a clear plastic bag. For safety reasons, unwrapped mattresses cannot be collected.
  • Free mattress bags are available at the Cart Storage Yard (14577 66 Ave), Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm.
  • Please bring your Service Request (SR) number. A bag will only be provided if a mattress was included in your pickup request.

Glass Items

  • Large pieces of glass or mirrors are not accepted through this service.
  • Please remove any glass from furniture (e.g. glass tabletops or dresser mirrors) and take it to either the Central Surrey or North Surrey Recycling and Waste Centre for safe disposal.
