Spring break youth volunteer opportunities
Opportunities are for youth ages 13-18. Please note, not all events are drop-in. Be sure to sign-up as a Surrey Youth Stewardship Squad or Partners in Parks volunteer to participate. Dress for the weather and bring water.

Nature Work Parties
All ages are welcome! Volunteers twelve years old and under are welcome to attend with an adult.
Help care for Surrey's urban forest by removing invasive plants and litter from our parks. Tools and training are provided.

Surrey Youth Stewardship Squad
For ages 13 to 18.
Surrey Youth Stewardship Squad (SYSS) combines environmental stewardship and leadership in Surrey's unique urban forest. SYSS enhances our parks through hands-on restoration, education at community events, and other unique projects.

Urban Forestry Leader
For ages 18 and up.
Urban Forestry Leaders lead other volunteers in hands-on park and tree stewardship projects, and host nature activities at environmental events around Surrey.

Garden Work Parties
Join us at Garden Work Parties to help care for and maintain Surrey's beautiful feature gardens. Assist head gardeners with light to moderate horticultural work. No experience is required—tools and training are provided. Garden Work Parties generally take place twice a month from January-November.

Park Cleanups
Help keep our parks clean and beautiful. Park Cleanups are an easy and fun way to volunteer and make a difference in your community. Join Parks staff at various parks through the spring, summer and fall to participate in these group cleanup initiatives.

From Earth Day in April to World Oceans Day in June, take part in free family-friendly events and programs that celebrate nature in Surrey!
Bear Creek Lights
Celebrate nature at night by exploring stunning light displays set along beautiful nature trails at Bear Creek Park each fall.
Sounds of Summer
Sounds of Summer runs annually in July and August. With diverse genres from jazz and R&B to classic rock, enjoy this free live concert series at some of Surrey's most beautiful parks and outdoor spaces.
Park Play
Enjoy self-directed and staff-led park activities each July and August! Park Play has provided free activities to children and youth in Surrey’s parks since 2006.
Community Picnics
Celebrate your local park and get outdoors with your friends and family. Enjoy a picnic meal and fun park activities at these community events that take place each summer.
