John Tompson Park is a large park in Northeast Newton dedicated to the protection of about 1.5 kilometres of Bear Creek, a significant fish-bearing stream in the heart of the City. The park is located between Bear Creek Park (west), British Manor Park (east) and Nichol Estates Park (South). Despite its large size, approximately 18 hectares (45 acres), only a small area of the park is accessible from 77 Ave and 77A Ave. The remainder of the park is dedicated to environmental protection.
