Surrey’s free outdoor pools opening soon

Surrey, B.C. – Residents will soon be able to enjoy a free swim at an outdoor pool, just in time for the warm weather and May long weekend. On May 13, three of the City’s outdoor pools will open, with all eight pools set to open by June 22. 

“Every summer, Surrey’s outdoor pools provide an opportunity for residents to stay active while spending time with friends and family outside,” said Jeff Holland, Aquatics Manager. “They also provide a free option to stay cool during extreme heat—something that has become increasingly valuable in recent years as we combat record-breaking temperatures and a rising cost-of-living.”

• May 13:

  • Greenaway Pool (17901 - 60 Avenue) 
  • Sunnyside Pool (15455 - 26 Avenue) 
• June 1:  
  • Hjorth Road Pool (10277 - 148 Street) 
• June 22:  
  • Holly Pool (10662 - 148 Street) 
  • Kwantlen Pool (13035 - 104 Avenue) 
  • Port Kells Pool (19340 - 88 Avenue) 
  • Unwin Pool (13313 - 68 Avenue) 

Admission for public swimming is free on a first come, first served basis with regular capacities. Lane swimming will be available at select locations. Certified, instructor-led Lifesaving Society Swim for Life swim lessons will be available for a fee. To learn more, visit surrey.ca/outdoorpools.
