Surrey, B.C. – The City of Surrey is proud to host the 2024 Canada Cup International Softball Championship at South Surrey’s Softball City from June 28 to July 7. Organized by the Canadian Amateur Sport Society, this event provides young female athletes a platform to showcase their talents, earn scholarships, and inspire future players. It also serves as essential preparation for the 2028 Olympic Games.

“We are excited to welcome athletes from around the world to the 2024 Canada Cup in Surrey,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “Our city is dedicated to promoting sports and providing world-class venues for athletes to train, compete, and excel. As we host this prestigious event, we are proud to demonstrate our city's ability to attract top-tier events that bring economic benefits and showcase our city as a hub for sports and entertainment. The Canada Cup International Softball Championship is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the love of sport, and we look forward to welcoming athletes, spectators, and fans alike."

As Surrey's premier international softball tournament, the Canada Cup draws over 1,850 participants from countries such as Australia, Greece, Israel, Mexico, and Canada. “We are happy to welcome top athletes preparing for the 2024 World Championships in Italy,” said Softball Canada President Scott Neiles. “The tournament will feature elite female athletes from Canada and around the world, competing in various divisions. We look forward to an incredible display of talent and sportsmanship.”

The Ukrainian Women’s Junior National Softball Team is set to compete in the Futures Gold (U19) division after becoming one of the most heartwarming stories of the 2023 Canada Cup. Last year, the City of Surrey, along with more than 500 individual donations and strong support from the BC business community, raised over $60,000 in just over a week to bring the team to Softball City.
