Surrey Kicks Off 2021 Love Where You Live Campaign This Week
The Surrey Love Where You Live program features a 20-Minute Challenge, Neighbourhood Clean-up events and Park Clean-up events.
Surrey, BC – On Earth Day, April 22, the City of Surrey is launching this year’s Love Where You Live campaign, which runs until the end of September. The campaign encourages the community to come together to keep the City clean and welcoming by participating in beautification and clean-up challenges throughout the summer.
“Whether you sign-up to volunteer for the 20-minute challenge or join one of our park clean-up events, there are many ways to get involved, improve our community and show love for where you live,” said Mayor Doug McCallum. “We can’t think of a better way to kick off this year’s Earth Day celebrations, while coming together to build a greener, healthier and safer community.”
The Surrey Love Where You Live program features a 20-Minute Challenge, Neighbourhood Clean-up events and Park Clean-up events. The 20-Minute Challenge asks residents to volunteer to clean-up their neighbourhood for at least 20 minutes per week. The Neighbourhood Clean-up program supports community groups wanting to organize a group clean-up, and the City provides all the supplies needed and will pick up the waste collected. Park Clean-up events provide the opportunity for residents to join City staff in cleaning up popular parks across the City. There is a prize draw every month residents who participate.
The campaign also highlights the City’s Large Item Pickup program and grant programs, where eligible neighbourhood improvement projects could receive up to $3,000 in funding.
