Surrey has a new vision for the Anniedale Tynehead neighbourhood
The City of Surrey is seeking community input on the draft Anniedale Tynehead Neighbourhood Concept Plan (NCP) that will help guide future growth in the area.
Surrey, BC – The City of Surrey is seeking community input on the draft Anniedale Tynehead Neighbourhood Concept Plan (NCP) that will help guide future growth in the area. Residents, businesses and community partners can share their feedback by completing an online survey, open until March 20.
The draft Anniedale Tynehead plan presents a fresh new vision for the community in north Surrey, near Highway 1 and Highway 15.
The new plan will replace the existing plan created in 2012 to address current challenges and guide new development. The plan will guide where new roads, parks, homes, and jobs will be located, while reinforcing a strategy to protect the environment.
Key features of the plan include:
- A new community village near 96 Avenue and 173A Street;
- Plans for two new elementary schools and a high school;
- Protection for wildlife habitats and corridors;
- Plans for a new community centre and the expansion of parks; and,
- Improvements to roads, cycling infrastructure, walkways, and paths for easier mobility.
Feedback from the survey will be used to refine the plan before presenting a draft to City Council later this year. The next stage of work will involve reviewing utility and infrastructure, financing, urban design and other policies. The final plan is expected to be ready for public review in early 2025.
Community members are also invited to attend an open house to learn more about the plan update on Tuesday, March 12 from 4:30 – 8:00 pm at Port Kells Community Hall.
Find the draft plan and take the survey on the city website.
