Surrey, B.C. – The City of Surrey is pleased to announce its 2025 Cultural Grants allocations. This year, City Council has awarded $617,125 in grants to 94 arts, culture and heritage organizations to support a wide variety of cultural activities taking place in Surrey.

"Supporting Surrey's arts, culture, and heritage groups is essential," said Mayor Brenda Locke. "These grants play a vital role in enhancing our diverse cultural landscape and providing residents with meaningful and memorable experiences. This cultural grant funding supports local organizations to organize and host many programs and events across the City.”

The Cultural Grants Program supports a wide range of artistic and heritage initiatives that showcase creativity, celebrate cultural heritage, and connect communities. By fostering artistic expression and celebrating heritage, the program enhances residents' quality of life and strengthens the capacity of organizations, programs, events, and activities dedicated to arts and heritage in Surrey.

Funding is available in three categories: Cultural Celebrations, Projects, and Operating Grants. In 2024, the City awarded $648,955 to 87 local organizations. Funding supports a diverse range of cultural experiences, including music, dance, theatre, visual arts, festivals and events, and more.

This year, the City continues to improve the application process by maintaining its streamlined online forms for a more efficient intake experience. Additionally, staff are hosting ongoing information sessions to guide applicants through the process and provide further insights into the program.

Since 2013, the City’s Cultural Grants Program has provided over 850 grants, supporting organizations that provide residents with original community-based artistic experiences, deliver consistent and meaningful programming, and play a leadership role in enriching Surrey’s cultural landscape.
