Share your thoughts about community safety and wellbeing in Surrey

Surrey, B.C. – The City of Surrey is hosting a series of public consultation events to support the development of an Integrated Community Safety and Wellbeing Strategy. The findings from the public consultation will be used to build a strategy that incorporates new and ongoing programs with partners across the City to further nurture safety, wellbeing and to foster a sense of belonging for everyone in Surrey.
“Last October, Surrey Council endorsed the development of a strategy for community safety and wellbeing for our City,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “Surrey has long been a leader in developing innovative and effective approaches to building a safe place for our residents to thrive and we are now evolving and expanding our approach through public consultation. I invite our residents to attend one of these community events to help us define safety and wellbeing for everyone in Surrey.”
Community members are invited to attend an event to share what is important to them for their safety and wellbeing:
- City Centre Library – Jan. 24, 4–6pm
- Clayton Community Centre – Jan. 30, 4–6pm
- Newton Recreation Centre – Feb. 1, 4–6pm
Attendees can enjoy refreshments, play games, complete a survey, and participate in an art project to share their perspective on what contributes to safety and wellbeing for everyone in the community. Anyone who partakes in the survey, or the art project can enter a draw to win a $100 gift card.
The strategy will be launched in Spring 2024 and will build upon the successes of the 2017 Public Safety Strategy and our existing award-winning prevention and intervention programs.
