Surrey, BC – Surrey Fire Services is hosting a city-wide open house on Saturday, September 21, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at all Surrey fire halls. Residents are invited to visit their local hall for a free, family-friendly event featuring fire truck displays, live demonstrations, and an opportunity to meet the firefighters who serve their community.

"Surrey Fire Services is not just about responding to emergencies; it’s about building relationships within our community,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “I encourage all residents to join us on September 21 to meet our dedicated firefighters and learn how together, we can enhance our safety and resilience. Let’s celebrate the vital role our firefighters play and strengthen the bonds that keep Surrey a safe place to call home."

“These open houses provide an invaluable opportunity for our community to connect with the firefighters who work tirelessly to keep us safe,” said Fire Chief Larry Thomas. “From responding to emergencies to educating the public on fire prevention, Surrey Fire Services plays a critical role in protecting the city. I encourage everyone to visit their local fire hall, engage with our firefighters, and learn more about the important work they do.”

This event offers a unique chance for the public to learn about fire safety, explore the daily operations of the fire services, and discover potential career opportunities in firefighting.

As this event is held at a live, working fire hall, crews may need to respond to calls. Additional staff will be on site to facilitate the event in their absence. For event information and locations, visit surrey.ca/sfsopenhouse.

Last year, Surrey Fire Services responded to over 37,315 emergency calls, conducted more than 8,223 fire safety inspections, and engaged in numerous community outreach programs aimed at improving fire safety awareness and emergency preparedness. Learn more at surrey.ca/fireservice.
