Group indoor physical activities and sports at City recreational facilities suspended until further notice
All indoor group physical activities and sports at City of Surrey recreational facilities have been suspended to comply with the new Provincial Health Order.
Surrey, BC – With the new Provincial Health Order issued by Dr. Henry at this afternoon’s briefing, all indoor group physical activities at City of Surrey recreational facilities have been suspended to comply with the new order. Affected activities include:
- Spin classes
- Yoga classes
- Group fitness
- Dance classes
- Any other indoor group physical activity that increases the respiratory rate
As per the order, indoor sports where physical distancing cannot be maintained are suspended. Activities include:
- Hockey
- Basketball
- Volleyball
These activities can be replaced with individual exercise or practice that allows everyone to maintain a safe physical distance.
City staff will be contacting affected users and organizations to notify them of the suspension in programming. Notices will also be posted on the City’s website and distributed through social media.
The City will provide updates on any further changes to programming as they occur.
