Fashion Legend Ivan Sayers Returns to Museum of Surrey
Renowned Fashion Historian Ivan Sayers returns to Museum of Surrey on October 13 to present a fashion talk ‘Glamour, On Screen and Off’ from 7:00 to 8:30pm.
Surrey, BC – Renowned Fashion Historian Ivan Sayers returns to Museum of Surrey on October 13 to present a fashion talk ‘Glamour, On Screen and Off’ from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The event provides an inside look into the glamorous world of Hollywood fashion. See a slideshow featuring movie stars like, Jean Harlow, Katherine Hepburn and Joan Crawford and learn how their styles influenced popular fashion of the day.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ivan Sayers back to the museum as his presentations are always fascinating, and of course, a lot of fun,” said Museum of Surrey Manager Lynn Saffery. “He has collected period costumes for over 50 years and now has one of the largest and most comprehensive private collections of historical clothing in Canada.”
The recipient of several fashion and historical awards, Sayers specializes in the study of fashions from 1700 onward. Previously the curator of History at Vancouver Museum, he now produces historical fashions shows and exhibitions across the country and lectures at universities and colleges. He is currently the Honorary Curator of the Society for the Museum of Original Costume whose mandate it is to establish a museum of clothing and textiles in the Lower Mainland.
Visitors are also encouraged to explore the feature gallery, which is now showing Surrey on Screen. The new exhibit opened August 18, showcasing one of the largest collections of costumes, props, poster, and photographs that Hollywood’s North has to offer.
