Surrey, B.C. – The City of Surrey announces the return of the popular Community Picnic Series happening on Thursday evenings, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, this July and August. Neighbours are invited to bring their own picnic and come together to socialize and have fun this summer at several locations and dates:
- Holly Park on July 6
- Sullivan Park on July 13
- Forsyth Park on July 20
- Hazelgrove Park on July 27
- Cloverdale Athletic Park on August 3
- Goldstone Park on August 10
- Fleetwood Park on August 17
- Robson Park on August 24
City staff will be on location to encourage play by lending out sporting equipment and leading fun games and activities. There will also be music, and free hot dogs for the first 150 people attending each picnic.
Community Picnics are offered by Surrey Parks to encourage residents and visitors to build connection to their park and community. The program promotes environmental stewardship by providing valuable information on how to care for and respectfully engage with park spaces. Community partners will also be onsite to connect residents with resources available in their neighbourhoods.
A special thank you to Surrey Cares Community Foundation and ParticipACTION Community Challenge for making these events possible.
