City of Surrey aims to reach more students through virtual version of popular City Hall Tours

Surrey, B.C. – City of Surrey is pleased to offer a virtual version of its ever popular City Hall Tours program to allow for more flexibility and greater accessibility to students across the city. Classrooms across Surrey can now learn about their local government through an easy-to-access video tour, workbook and helpful resources from anywhere in Surrey, at any time.
“Our goal with the virtual tours is to engage and enrich the experience of students who may not have the opportunity to explore City Hall in person,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “As future leaders and voters, it is important to learn about local government and the direct, daily impact it has on the citizens of Surrey. I invite teachers throughout the city to take advantage of the resources we have to offer and enrich their classroom experience.”
Unlike the traditional in-person tours with fixed schedules, the virtual tour can be accessed at any time, allowing classrooms to explore City Hall at their own pace.
The virtual tour aligns with the School District 36 curriculum and is designed to provide an immersive and interactive experience, allowing students to explore various sections of City Hall, learn about its history, and understand the functions of different departments. This initiative is part of the City's ongoing efforts to leverage technology to enhance civic engagement and education.
