Surrey, B.C. – Get your event, project, or initiative supported through the City of Surrey Cultural Grants Program. If you’re a non-profit organization planning an arts or cultural event or activity in Surrey, you are invited to apply for a grant of up to $25,000. This year, the City has updated the applications to online forms to make applying even easier.
The application window for the 2024 year is now open until October 3 at surrey.ca/culturalgrants. Additionally, staff are hosting information sessions in August and September to guide you through the Cultural Grants Program and the application process.
"The City of Surrey is dedicated to supporting arts and cultural groups that are either based in Surrey or are planning events in Surrey in 2024 through this funding program,” said Kim Drabyk, Community Arts Manager. "I encourage members of organizations intending to apply for a cultural grant, especially newcomers to the program, to register for one of the upcoming information sessions. These sessions will offer valuable insights into the application process and answer questions."
The City provides three types of grants: Cultural Celebration, Project, and Operating Grants. From music to dance, theatre to visual arts, and cultural celebrations, our grants support a wide range of arts and cultural activities. In 2023, the City awarded over $550,000 to 70 arts and culture organizations involved in delivering cultural programming in Surrey.
The City launched this grant program in 2013 to foster partnerships and collaborations in arts and cultural activities, programs, and initiatives that showcase Surrey's diverse communities. Cultural experiences, including music, dance, theatre, Indigenous arts, and more, play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life in Surrey.
