BC Youth Week is a provincial celebration of youth that is held on the first week of May every year. This week is an action-packed celebration that is intended for youth to build strong connections with their community.
The intention behind events like these is to highlight the interests, accomplishments, and diversity of youth across the province of BC.
Registration will be available one week prior to the event date.
Thursday, May 1
Spa Night (ages 10 to 18)
3:00-6:00pm at Clayton Community Centre
Just for Girls, this evening will be all about the spa experience!
Weight Room Challenge (ages 13 to 18)
3:30-7:30pm at Guildford Recreation Centre
Think you know the weight room or new to the weight room? Participate in the challenge to reach your next PR or receive an orientation with tips and tricks by certified staff. The weight room challenge welcomes all skills levels. Take part in the challenge and receive a prize.

DIY Ramen Bar
3:30-6:00pm at Fleetwood Community Centre
Craft your perfect bowl of ramen and settle in for a cozy Studio Ghibli movie! Choose your favourite toppings, mix and match flavors, and enjoy a delicious, customized meal!
Drop-in ball hockey (ages 13 to 18)
6:15-7:30pm at North Surrey Sport & Ice Complex
Get active in a fun non contact game of ball hockey! Join up with other players or come with friends to form a team. All skill levels and abilities welcome. Hockey gloves, stick, runners and CSA approved helmet with full cage required.
Friday, May 2
Drop-in Figure Skating (ages 13 to 18)
10:45am-12:00pm at Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex
Spin into this shared program time to practice your figure skating moves. All skill levels welcome. CSA approved helmets required. Adults or coaches are not required to be on ice but are welcome to supervise. Coaches must register and can instruct up to three youth per session.
Drop-in Ice Hockey (ages 13 to 18)
12:15-1:30pm at Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex
Come and participate in a recreational, non-contact hockey game. Full hockey gear required. All skill levels welcome. No slap shots allowed.
Carnival Skate and Splash (ages 10 to 18)
2:45-6:30pm at Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex – Arena
Join us for some carnival fun while skating and swimming at Surrey Sport and Leisure, specifically for youth and preteens! Enjoy ice skating and playing on ice games from 2:45-3:45pm. Afterwards, test your knowledge with a scavenger hunt and enjoy some snacks before heading to the pool at 5:00 PM for even more fun and games! You can stay for the entire event or join us for the parts you enjoy most.
Volleyball Try-it (ages 10 to 18)
3:30-5:00pm at South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre
Serve, set, spike! Wanted to try volleyball but have not had a chance? Join us for our Girls Only Volleyball Try-it.
Volleyball Tournament (ages 13 to 18)
4:00-7:00pm at Newton Recreation Centre
Serve, set, spike! Youth of any skill level and abilities are welcome to play in a bracket-style tournament. Bring your own team or join other players. Proper footwear will be required.
8-Ball Pool Tournament (ages 13 to 18)
5:00-7:00pm at Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre
Get ready to break and sink your way to victory in an 8-Ball Pool Tournament! Compete against your peers to show your skills.
Youth Week BBQ (ages 10 to 18)
5:00-7:00pm at Cloverdale Recreation Centre
We will be celebrating youth week with a BBQ catered to the youth in our programs.

Dessert Showdown (ages 10 to 13)
5:00-8:00pm at Clayton Community Centre
Preteens create their own dessert ideas leading up to the program. Made in groups of 3. After approval, supplies are purchased and ready to go for the day of. Desserts will be made and judges will decide who wins.
NBA All Star Competition (ages 10 to 18)
5:45-7:45pm at Fraser Heights Recreation Centre
Dribble, bounce, shoot! Join us for an NBA All Star-esque Day. Take part in the skills competition and compete with friends in the basketball tournament. Prizes to be won.

Bake Off (ages 10 to 18)
6:00-8:30pm at South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre
Preteen and youth join to compete in a cooking baking and decorating competition. Bring your taste buds and artistic skills to see who will be crowned the top baker! Cookies will be consumed and shared at the end of the competition.
Uno Tournament (ages 13 t o18)
6:15-8:45pm at Newton Recreation Centre
Unleash your wild cards! Youth are welcome to play in a competitive and fun Uno tournament. Bring your friends. Prizes to be won!
Video Game Tournament (ages 13 to 18)
6:30pm-8:30pm at Guildford Recreation Centre
Bring your A-game and challenge your friends to a Super Smash Bros video game tournament. Winners get bragging rights and a prize.

Saturday, May 3
Pool Basketball (ages 13 to 18)
1:00-3:00pm at Newton Recreation Centre
Get ready for a splashin’ good time of Pool Basketball! Show off your skills as you pass and shoot your way to victory. Proper swim attire required.
Indigenous Workshop: Medicine Pouch (ages 13 to 18)
4:00-5:00pm and 5:00-6:00pm at Clayton Community Centre
Taught by Cree Elder, Germain Langan, this workshop will teach youth how to hand-sew a medicine pouch. There will be two different workshop times available and is open to all youth.

Basketball All Star Saturday (ages 13 to 18)
4:00-8:00pm at Guildford Recreation Centre
Calling all basketball players who want to prove they are the best! Show off your skills at the 3-point and dunk contest, and compete in the 4v4 tournament where you will go head-to-head with other ballers. There will be refreshments, prizes, and music.

Connect 4 Tournament (ages 10 to 13)
4:00-5:00pm at Newton Recreation Centre
Get ready to connect! Preteens are welcome to play the fun game of JUMBO Connect4 in our gymnasium. Bring your friends! Prizes to be won.
5v5 Basketball Tournament (ages 13 to 18)
4:30-7:30pm at South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre
Assemble your teams and compete against your peers in a 5v5 tournament. Sign-up required, opening April 4th.
Volleyball Tournament (ages 13 to 18)
4:30-6:00pm at Clayton Community Centre
Condensed tournament, youth leader creates four teams of 6 players. Teams will be inserted into a Semi Final playoff bracket on tournament board. Games are best-of-3 sets, winners play in Final, losers play for 3rd place. Prizes to be won!
Volleyball Try-it (ages 13 to 18)
5:30-7:45pm at Fraser Heights Recreation Centre
Serve, set, spike! Youth of any skill level and abilities are welcome to play drop-in volleyball. Staff will help organize friendly game play amongst participants.
3v3 Basketball Tournament (ages 13 to 18)
6:00-9:30pm at Cloverdale Recreation Centre
Youth sign up in advance and get a team of 3. Play games up to 11, Anything beyond the perimeter is worth 2 points, anything inside perimeter is worth 1 point if you win you advance to the next round.

Crazy Craft Sunday (ages 13 to 18)
4:30-7:30pm at Guildford Recreation Centre
Crazy for crafts? Join us for a fun-filled evening where you can make keychains, phone accessories or decorate a tote bag. No experience or registration required, just your presence and creativity.

After Hours Youth Drop-in (ages 13 to 18)
5:00-7:00pm at Fraser Heights Recreation Centre
The facility will be open after hours for youth only to participate in gymnasium activities, have access to the weight room and receive tips and tricks from a certified staff, and enjoy a fresh smoothie.
Star Wars Movie Night (ages 13 to 18)

Preteens participate in CRC's gameshow night where we will be playing jeopardy. They will team up in groups of 3-4 and answer questions from 5 different categories. Group with the most points gets the prize.

Community Art Jam (ages 13 to 18)

This free youth event will showcase the work of local youth and will include music performances, art contests, and more!

Phone Charms (ages 10 to 18)
3:30-6:00pm at Fleetwood Community Centre
Come meet new friends and get creative by making your very own phone charms! Whether you're into crafting or just want to hang out and have some fun, this event is perfect for preteens and youth looking to express their style and creativity.
Swim to Survive (ages 10 to 18)
4:00-6:00pm at Guildford Aquatics Centre
A chance for youth to learn how to stay safe and have fun while in and around the water.

Cooking Showdown – Chopped Edition (ages 10 to 13)
3:30-6:00pm at Clayton Community Centre
Preteens have food purchased by staff that is ready to prepare. They work together to create a meal with the supplies available. Call it - Chopped! Once approved, they will create the main course. Judges will decide the winner.
Volleyball Try It (ages 10 to 13)
