Join us for our annual Youth Speak Up Forum! If you are 13-18, join us at City Hall for a full day of workshops and activities to discuss community topics.
- You will receive a certificate for participation.
- Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will also be provided.
- We will amplify your voice and gather information and recommendations on meaningful topics.
Surrey Leadership Youth Council (SLYC) youth will then collect data and feedback to create their annual Youth Speak-Up Forum Report.
2024 workshop topics
Clayton Reimagined: Shaping a Brighter Future for Our Community
Led in partnership with the City of Surrey's Planning and Development Department. The Clayton Corridor Plan is a Neighborhood Concept Plan (NCP), currently in development. This workshop seeks to gather input from youth on the growth and transformation of the Clayton area over the next 30 years, as the SkyTrain extends along Fraser Highway to Langley. We'll explore detailed planning for future urban parks and schools, shaping how these spaces will look and function in the years to come.
Surrey’s Access for All: Creating an Inclusive Future Together
Led in partnership with City of Surrey's Healthy Communities Department. The City of Surrey’s Accessibility Action Plan is dedicated to providing accessible and inclusive services, programs, and opportunities for all members of our community. In this workshop, youth will have the opportunity to provide input on various projects aimed at making Surrey more accessible for everyone.
Surrey's Green Future: Youth Shaping a Zero-Carbon Tomorrow
Led in partnership with the City of Surrey's Planning and Development Department. The City’s climate action efforts are spearheaded by the Sustainability Team, which envisions a zero-carbon, climate-resilient Surrey by 2050. In this workshop, youth will provide feedback to help ensure that Surrey's future is more resilient, healthy, equitable, and prosperous for all residents and community members.

Surrey Youth Speak-Up Forum Report 2023
In 2023, Surrey Leadership Youth Council (SLYC) successfully hosted the 15th annual Youth Speak-Up Forum.
The forum had 150 youth participants from various schools throughout Surrey. It consisted of workshops centered around important themes such as Surrey's Official Community Plan, Social Equity Plan and Activating Newton.
The 2023 Youth Speak-Up report highlights a summary of feedback collected from youth throughout the day.
