In conjunction with the exhibit Art by Surrey Secondary Students running until April 21, Surrey Art Teachers Association (SATA) members Leanne Whynot and Sapira Sutton will share their practices as both artists and educators, discussing the connections between their own creative endeavours and art education methodologies.
The Gallery has a long-standing close relationship with SATA, connecting regularly to collaboratively develop programming that contributes to the learning of both young artists and generalist teachers.
About SATA
The Surrey Art Teachers Association (SATA) connects local art teachers and students in the pursuit of collegiality and excellence in visual arts instruction. As educators, they provide students with the tools to make connections with their curriculum and to learn about their world. Reflecting the demands of constantly changing educational paradigms, SATA members support each other through the sharing of resources, opportunities, knowledge, and ideas.
