Youth Speak Up Forum
This day-long forum provides a platform for youth to express their opinions and ideas to shape the future of the City of Surrey. Join us for our annual Youth Speak Up Forum on November 8, 2024! If you are 13-18, join us at City Hall for a full day of workshops and activities to discuss community topics.
SASSY Awards
The SASSY Awards (Service Above Self Surrey Youth) is Semiahmoo Rotary’s celebration and recognition of the fantastic youth who live, work, volunteer, and learn in Surrey and White Rock.
Recognizing and engaging exceptional youth in our community honours the core Rotarian values of Service, Fellowship, Diversity, Integrity and Leadership.
Youth Cooking Showdown
Taking place in July at the Fusion Festival, the Youth Cooking Showdown sees youth competing in a head-to-head culinary battle to impress our all-star panel of judges. Youth must work successfully with their team in order to create a dish that incorporates a secret ingredient in order to be crowned the Cooking Showdown Champion.
Surrey Rides
Surrey Rides is an exciting annual event held throughout the summer to celebrate Surrey’s vibrant skate community with a range of contests, jams and demos for youth enthusiasts of skateboarding, scootering, and BMX. Be part of the “try it series” and show your support as 100 young people build confidence and their skills in a fun and engaging environment.
Band-aid
Held each fall, local youth singers, songwriters, solo artists, bands and DJs receive development and mentorship. This fall on October 5, 2024, Band-aid will have mentors from the Canadian music scene for a jam-packed day of workshops that are ideal for rock bands and musicians who want to level up their musical careers.
Surrey Slam Jam
Held each spring, join your friends for a basketball tournament, dance battle, and jazz jam.
The 2023 Surrey Slam Jam was a huge success seeing over 500 participants at the Guildford Recreation Centre. Youth between the ages of 13-18 experienced a day full of festivities, great prizes, and culture! The Surrey Slam Jam featured exciting activations like beatboxing, dance, and art workshops.
