
Tree Sale Program
Surrey residents can buy quality trees at an affordable price to help grow the urban forest.
Surrey Parks is hosting four tree sales in 2025. Sale details below. Future sale dates will be posted on this page, through social media, and our news and updates program.
New trees planted on your property:
- provide shade and insulation for your home
- increase your property value
- make your neighbourhood more livable
- help grow the urban forest by increasing tree canopy coverage
Purchases are made online and then later picked up from the Surrey Operations Centre (6651 148 Street).
Upcoming dates
April 30
Online store opens April 30 at 9am until May 14 (while supplies last). Trees can be picked up on May 25
Additional sales to be announced at a later date.
Eligibility & limits
- This program is for private properties in Surrey.
- Trees are only available to Surrey residents.
- Trees must be purchased using a credit card with a Surrey billing name and address. Purchases made with billing addresses outside of Surrey will be cancelled.
- Maximum three trees per Surrey address, based on your billing address. Additional orders using the same billing address will be cancelled.
How to buy
All trees are $20. Most trees are in 3- or 5-gallon pots and vary between 5 to 12 feet tall. Ensure your vehicle can accommodate this.
Most trees average 2 to 3 cm caliper size, and would not meet the size requirements as replacement trees. We’re unable to guarantee the size of specific trees in advance of purchase.
When sales open:

Proceed to your cart and choose your pickup time. Items in your cart are not held until payment has been processed.

Add a note in the text box if someone else will be picking up your trees on your behalf. Limits apply.
- Enter your payment details using a card with a Surrey billing name and address and check out.
You will receive a confirmation email of your order as well as a reminder prior to the pickup date at the Surrey Operations Centre (6651 148 Street).
Trees are considered final sale after pickup.

Each sale has approximately 1000 trees available for purchase. Trees are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Trees vary by sale. Varieties for upcoming sales will be listed in advance of each sale day.

Apple
Ambrosia
Small tree, grows between 10-14 feet. The fruit is sweet and tender. Produces beautiful spring flowers.

Braeburn
Small tree that thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, capable of reaching a height and spread of 15-20 feet. Clusters of pinkish-white flowers in spring and large, sweet-tart apples in fall, ideal for fresh eating and cooking.

Empire
A popular red table apple with a greenish blush, excellent flavor, keeps well, late harvest; eating apples are high maintenance and need a second pollinator; the perfect combination of accent and fruit tree, needs well-drained soil and full sun. At maturity, it will stand to a height and spread of 20 feet.

Gala
A small but productive variety that can function as an accent, shade, or orchard tree. Well known for its tasty red apples which can be eaten fresh or used to bake delicious goods. Requires full sun and well-drained soil. At maturity, it will stand to a height and spread of 20 feet.

Cherry
Bing
The most common commercial cherry variety featuring showy white flowers in spring followed by sweet deep red fruit. Requires full sun and well-drained soil. Cherries, are dark red with black overtones and crimson flesh, are ready for picking from early to mid-summer. Pointy leaves turn yellow in fall. Grows to a height and spread of 40 feet.

Compact Stella
Suited for small gardens due to their small stature. Self-fertile. White blossoms in spring give way to deep red cherries. Resists cracking and is moderately disease-resistant. Grows to about 12-15 feet in height and spread.

Lapin
Small cherry grows to 18 feet. Delicious cherries are ready in early summer and are good for fresh eating and baking.

Sweetheart
Fruitful tree, reaching up to 25 feet in height and 15 feet in width in full sun. Fragrant white flowers in the spring and bright red cherries from late summer to early fall, perfect for canning, baking and fresh eating.

Dogwood
Blue Shadow
Large blue-green leaves with white bracts. Has attractive bluish-green foliage that turns yellow in the fall. Relatively low maintenance tree and a good choice or attracting birds to your yard. Does best in full sun to partial shade. Grows to a height of 30 feet and spread of 25 feet.

Cornelian Cherry
A versatile small tree for many landscape applications; features bright yellow flowers in very early spring before the leaves and bright red berries in summer. It is a multi-stemmed deciduous tree with a shapely oval form that will grow to be about 20 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 15 feet. This tree does best in full sun to partial shade. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist locations and should do just fine under average home landscape conditions.

Pink Flowering
A simply breathtaking small specimen tree when in bloom, featuring large yet dainty pinkish-red blooms in spring and excellent wide-spreading form. Requires rich, well-drained acidic soil and adequate precipitation, best with some shelter. Can grow about 30 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 35 feet. It grows at a slow rate.

Red Pygmy
Multi-stemmed deciduous shrub with an upright spreading habit of growth. Lovely pinkish-red bracts in spring cover this truly dwarf version of the species, has an upright habit; attractive red fruit in late summer, good fall color. Small size; grows to a height and spread of 6 feet.

Maple
Japanese Maple ‘Bloodgood’
Possibly the most popular of all feature trees for the home landscape, with rich burgundy-purple palm-shaped foliage all season long and a very artistic spreading growth habit; put it in the front yard and give it lots of room to grow. Grows to a height and spread of about 20 feet.

Japanese Maple ‘Tsukasa Silhouette’
Standing at 20 feet with a 5-foot spread, this slow-growing, low-maintenance tree features a dense, columnar form with vibrant green leaves that transform into stunning orange and red in the fall. Ideal for accents, hedges, or containers, it thrives in full sun to partial shade, adding elegance to any garden.

Pear
Anjou
Larger tree, can grow to 45 feet. Produces high quality firm green pears, well known for fresh eating, cooking, and baking. Enjoy white flowers in early spring.

Bartlett
The most commercially popular pear, produces excellent quality, yellow-green fruit in early fall; very showy white flowers in spring and an upright oval habit, very ornamental. Can grow up to 20 feet in height. Common uses include cooking, baking, juice-making, canning, and eating fresh.

Summer Crisp
One of the hardiest pears with clouds of showy white flowers in spring, good fall color and a consistent oval form; small firm greenish-red fruit, reasonable quality, good flavor; fallen fruit can be messy, but self-pollinating and resistant to fireblight. At its largest height, the tree will be 25 feet tall and have a 20 feet spread. Common uses include cooking, baking, preserves, canning, and eating fresh.

Other
Beech ‘Tricolor’
A large and dense deciduous accent tree with striking green, white, and pink-variegated foliage. Serrated pointy leaves are highly ornamental with white-variegated burgundy colour and oval shape. Bark is a smooth silver with leaves turning coppery-bronze in the fall. Relatively slow-growing to a height of about 30 feet with a 20-foot spread at maturity.

Japanese Stewartia
This tree makes a great accent, with beautiful white flowers in mid-summer, bright red leaves in the fall and showy bark in the winter. It is a rather sensitive plant, needing shelter from wind and high-quality soil. Height 40 feet with a spread of 30 feet.

Japanese Snowbell 'Spring Showers'
A small and dainty deciduous accent tree with white bell-shaped flowers that hang below its branches in the spring. Flowers are lightly-scented and leaves are forest green ovals, turning to vibrant yellow in the fall. White-gray ornamental drupes hang in delicate clusters from late summer to fall. Grows to about 20 feet tall at maturity with a spread of 15 feet.

Katsura
Large, deciduous tree with pyramid shape grows to height of 50 feet and width of 30 feet. Leaves are mostly round to heart shaped. Its bluish-green leaves emerge burgundy in spring and turn yellow orange in the fall. Shaggy brown bark adds to its interest. This ornamental tree requires full sunlight and prefers moist conditions.

Sweet Gum 'Slender Silhouette'
A narrow columnar tree that reaches a height of 50 feet with a 10-foot spread. It features orange, yellow, and red leaves in the fall. Thrives in full sun and rich, acidic soils, perfect for accentuating gardens or creating shaded areas.

Parrotia 'Persian Spire'
Persian Spire is columnar and upright. Enjoy exfoliating gray bark and a flush of beautiful leaf colour ranging from yellows, oranges and red. Works well in a tight space.

Yellowwood 'Kentucky'
A large deciduous tree native to the southeastern United States, ideal as an accent or shade tree. Bark is smooth silver and foliage is light green turning to yellow in fall. Fragrant white pea-like flowers hang below branches in cascading bundles from mid to late spring. Tends to flower profusely every second year. Grows to about 45 feet tall at maturity with a 45-foot spread.
