Safe Routes to School

See where the safest places to pick up, drop off and park around elementary schools in Surrey.

We're undertaking a series of parking reviews for elementary schools throughout the City.

The purpose of the review is to:

  • identify potential  safety issues related to parking, stopping and pick-up/drop-off (PUDO) activities both on the school site and on the adjacent roads,
  • identify mitigation measures,
  • change parking regulations if necessary,
  • create downloadable / printable pdf format parking maps for educating parents and students.

This flows from site inspections, meeting with the school administration, installing signs, and mapping out new parking regulations. The analysis also looked to identify options that reduce PUDO congestion and emphasize alternatives to vehicle trips, such as walking and cycling.

The map indicates the following details of parking regulations:

  • pickup & drop-off areas
  • legal parking area
  • parking/stopping restricted area
  • staff parking area
