Sparkle by Sylvia: Light Where You Live

Have you noticed the holiday murals popping up on windows while you're doing your Christmas shopping? Meet the lady behind the beautiful artwork: Sylvia, a window mural artist based in Surrey! 

As a child Sylvia always wondered who painted the scenes that would seem to magically appear overnight on windows at Christmastime. "I remember thinking as a kid that if I was ever given a chance, I would want to paint them too," says Sylvia. 

She stumbled upon a how a "how-to" paint window murals video on YouTube, created by the talented Window Splash Artist, Scot Campbell, and was instantly inspirited by the huge and colourful images. Fast forward 50 years and Sylvia is now living her artist dreams and creating holiday images all around the city. "This is now my third year painting and I absolutely love it! I'm the one that gets to paint the big and happy murals that seem to magically appear overnight."

When asked what's her favourite part about painting the murals during the holidays, Sylvia says: "Being able to paint Santa of course!  And cozy snowy winter scenes, Rudolph, dancing polar bears and super cute gingerbread people too! It makes me so happy to be able to paint something pretty and spread some holiday cheer."

And we couldn't agree more! The holidays are all about spreading Christmas cheer - even if it's as simple as seeing a holiday mural design and it brings a smile to your face.
