Surrey, BC – Museum of Surrey will join several events taking place across the city for Remembrance Day. The Museum of Surrey, underlining the importance of preserving and sharing Surrey’s stories and histories, is open on Remembrance Day to honour all of those who have served and to provide opportunities for communities to reflect together.

Event Details:

Date: Saturday, November 11

Location: Veterans Square – 17710- 56A Avenue

Time: 10am ceremony

Museum of Surrey will be open for visitors from 9:30am-1:00pm.

This year, as a part of Remembrance Day observance, the community is invited to visit the special exhibit, “Duty, Honour & Izzat”, which will be on display for public viewing from November 7 to 14. This exhibition commemorates the Indian efforts on the centennial anniversary of World War 1. It serves as a powerful reminder of the bravery and dedication of those who played a vital role in the global conflict.

Steven Purewal, founder of Indus Media Foundations Canada (www.imfc.org) shared, “As our country becomes more diverse, it is great to see Museum of Surrey take the lead in helping to weave our collective stories of wartime sacrifice together by hosting the Duty, Honour & Izzat exhibition. For many in Surrey, the exhibit's inclusive telling of the iconic Canadian story of the Poppy reveals a deep shared heritage”. Steven Purewal will be touring the exhibit on Remembrance Day after the formal ceremony.
