New City Manager announced for City of Surrey
Surrey Council has appointed Robert Costanzo as the City of Surrey’s new City Manager.
Surrey, B.C. – Surrey Council has appointed Robert Costanzo as the City of Surrey’s new City Manager.
“On behalf of Council, I am delighted to announce that Robert Costanzo has been appointed as the new City Manager for the City of Surrey,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “Rob has an impressive 30 years of dedicated service, giving him a diversity of operational knowledge and deep understanding of the City’s values, goals and priorities. He has played a pivotal role in shaping Surrey’s growth and success over the years. A proven leader and is undoubtedly the right person to lead Surrey into the next chapter of our City’s evolution. Council and I look forward to working with Rob to bring Surrey to even greater heights. Please join me in congratulating Rob in his well-deserved new role.”
Prior to taking on the acting role of City Manager, Rob Costanzo was the General Manager of Corporate Services for six years, overseeing areas of Bylaw Services, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legislative Services and Legal Services. Mr. Costanzo has also held different positions, including senior leadership roles within the Engineering Department.

With my wide range of experience and extensive knowledge of the City, I look forward to working together with Council to make continued positive impacts in Surrey and pave a bright future for our citizens.”
Rob Costanzo has been Acting City Manager since August 2023. He was appointed after Vincent Lalonde announced his retirement after 26 years with the City of Surrey.
