Surrey, B.C. – The City of Surrey is making it easier to stay informed with a new email subscription service for public notices. This service is part of the new “Surrey Public Notice Bylaw, 2024, No. 21056” and aligns with provincial legislation that supports alternative public notice methods. It offers a convenient way to receive notifications directly to your email about public hearings, elections, taxes, land use changes, rezoning bylaws, and other key municipal decisions.

Additionally, updates will continue to be available on the City’s website, posted on the bulletin board in the main floor lobby at City Hall, and letters will be mailed to properties near significant decision-making locations.

Two ways to stay informed:

  1. View current notices online at surrey.ca/publicnotices.
  2. Subscribe for email updates at mypreferences.surrey.ca/subscribe.

This approach improves accessibility and efficiency, while meeting the community's growing preference for digital communication. It also integrates with the City's existing news and updates email subscription service, which already has 225,000 subscriptions across more than 20 topics.

Local newspapers will still be used for advertising and general public communications, but the website and new email service will now serve as the primary methods for meeting the legal requirements for public notices under Section 94 of the Community Charter.
