Surrey, B.C. – Party for the Planet, presented by TD Bank Group, returns to Surrey Civic Plaza on Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The signature Surrey event, and largest Earth Day celebration in B.C., will feature an expanded sustainable marketplace, Indigenous cultural sharing, environmental education, food trucks, live music, and performances on four stages.
“How we take care of our environment is a reflection of the overall health of our communities, and Party for the Planet is a celebration of our continued stewardship," said Mayor Brenda Locke. “A free family event, Party for the Planet is also B.C.’s largest Earth Day celebration. Come join us to learn new ways to be more sustainable and to enjoy the live entertainment by local talent.”
This year's event boasts an array of offerings to engage and entertain attendees. Returning to the event is the signature plant sale hosted by Surrey Parks, featuring native plants available at prices ranging from $3 to $6. Along University Drive, attendees will find food trucks, a rock-climbing wall, and a selection of local exhibitors. The Earth Stage will feature live musical performances, while the Community Stage will showcase dance battles and local Surrey performers.
"TD is so proud to be the presenting sponsor for Surrey's Party for the Planet for the 13th consecutive year," said Chris Sirovyak, Surrey District Vice President, TD Bank Group. "At TD, we’re committed to creating a more vibrant planet so that people and economies can thrive. We believe that our actions today affect our tomorrow and that we have an obligation to future generations to take care of our planet."
Party for the Planet will offer 500 complimentary tomato plants to attendees after the Welcome Ceremony with Mayor and Council at 2:00 p.m. This year's event includes special attractions for families including the Ocean Wise Sea Dome and new performers on the Family Stage. Additionally, the sustainable market has been expanded to offer more options for environmentally conscious consumers.
