The talented comic has a sly, quick-witted delivery and that provides No Worries If Not with a rock solid funny bone foundation.—Mike Devlin, The Times Colonist
By Katie-Ellen Humphries
Artistic direction by Britt Small
No Worries If Not is a funny and surprising tale of love, lying, and laundry. In the show, charismatic comic Katie-Ellen Humphries shares her fraught history as a pathological people pleaser (if that’s okay with you). Expect this Vancouver-based writer/performer to bring their signature wit, imagination, and refreshing sincerity to this joke-filled show that explores the concept of public vs. private personas, along with the challenges and gifts that arise when you’re honest about your needs. In a performance that is a masterful blend of standup and storytelling, expect finely honed detours on topics including food allergies, retail small talk, and the merits of procrastination. This is one show that you won’t want to miss! This show is part of the Comedy Series.
Audience advisory: strong language, mature themes, and difficult issues, including relationship abuse.
About Katie-Ellen Humphries
A seasoned writer and performer, Katie-Ellen has toured North America as a standup comedian for the past decade. In that time, they have amassed numerous television credits including multiple gala performances that have aired on CBC Television and three years as a panelist on the comedy talk show Morgan Brayton & Other People on Canada’s LGBTQIA+ network OUT-TV. Winner of “Joke of the Year” at the JFL NorthWest Comedy Fest (2018), Humphries got her start as a member of Victoria's own award-winning comedy cabaret, Atomic Vaudeville, and went on to co-found The Lady Show comedy troupe, which earned a Pick of the Fringe encore run at the 2018 Vancouver Fringe Festival.
Humphries is perhaps best known for their work on the long-running hit show The Debaters on CBC Radio One. After her debut on the show’s tenth season in 2015, Humphries quickly became a favourite and has appeared on over twenty episodes in the subsequent seasons. She has also worked as a script writer for the show and currently contributes as an Associate Producer and on-air talent. Katie-Ellen is a three-time Canadian National Champion for the 5 km Open Water Swim. That’s unrelated to comedy, but it explains the shoulders.
