"With two turntables, a German fairytale, performance poet Toby Thompson creates a beautiful show."
-The Guardian
Superb storytelling
Produced by The Egg, Theatre Royal Bath | UK
Written and performed by Toby Thompson
On the day of the annual fair, the town of Faldum gets an unexpected visit from a mysterious wanderer who offers to grant a wish to anyone who wants one. Before long, the town is transformed as people receive all they ask for. For two of the townsfolk, what they desire leads to some surprising consequences.
I Wish I Was a Mountain is a re-telling of Hermann Hesse’s short fairy tale, Faldum. This is beautiful storytelling, full of wit and wonder as it asks some thoughtful questions to ponder. Do we really need the things that we want? What do mountains feel? How did time begin? Adults are kindly asked to leave all answers to these questions at the door. Children—please come as you are!
