Department overview

The Social Infrastructure & Community Investments department is made up of teams that support and enhance social infrastructure and contribute to community safety and well-being throughout the City.

The department includes three divisions:

Business and Government Relations

The Business and Government Relations section manages relationships and engagement with the business community, Indigenous communities and other government entities to support the strategic priorities of Council.

The Economic Investment Section is responsible for promoting business development and job creation in the City of Surrey by:

  • Attracting new businesses
  • Supporting businesses in their expansion or relocation to Surrey
  • Providing information on Surrey’s economic and business climate

The Indigenous and Government Relations Section is responsible for leading Surrey's approach to relations with First Nations and our Urban Indigenous residents and rights holders as well as relations with other government sectors to support the strategic priorities of Mayor and Council.

Housing & Social Development

The Housing & Social Development Division is responsible for supporting the development of affordable non-market housing and address priority social and community safety issues in Surrey.

The division supports multi-sector community collaborations and advises internal and external partners on issues related to social development and community safety, as well as housing and homelessness. The division works to develop strong relationships with community partners in the delivery of a variety of programs including SYRP,  CHART, and SMART.

Strategic Initiatives & Investments

The Strategic Initiatives & Investments Division leads the development and implementation of City of Surrey capital projects, as well as strategic program initiatives for the department.
