The art of Henry Tsang reveals hidden histories.

Henry Tsang: In Plain Sight is an exhibition catalogue of two projects exhibited at Surrey Art Gallery: Hastings Park (2021) and Tansy Point (2022). Hastings Park consists of a series of colour photographs and an infrared projection installation depicting the four remaining buildings in Vancouver where over 8000 Japanese Canadians were temporarily located and processed prior to being incarcerated at labour and internment camps during World War II. Tansy Point is a double projection video installation of the site near the the mouth of the Columbia River where the Anson Dart Treaties were signed in 1851 between the Indigenous Chinook peoples and the US government, that have still yet to be ratified by Congress. The catalogue contains essays by Bryce Kanbara, Tarah Hogue, and Jordan Strom, design by Alex Hass.
