The work shall consist of the installation of native plants, according to a plant prescription, in natural areas that are being restored or expanded in size. The annual work program will be provided by the City and the work will be scheduled in advance.

The work must be done in accordance with:
• British Columbia Landscape and Nursery Association Standards
• City of Surrey Parks Standard Construction Standards

A written test may be required by the crew lead to demonstrate their knowledge of native plant identification and the site requirements for native plants.

The work consists of planting native trees and shrubs in natural area parkland of various sizes and terrain and site conditions. Plant size (typically 1-to-5-gallon sized pots) and species vary depending on the planting site. The City will provide the native plants required along with a general plan for each site. Specific planting guidelines for the spacing and grouping of the plants will be provided. The Contractor must be skilled and experienced in planting layout and able to recognize the micro-site requirements of each plant and the type of the general landscape type where the planting is occurring.
