A view of the front of Surrey Arts Centre on a sunny and clear day. Atheana Picha's vinyl artwork titled "Echoes" can be seen on the windows, a work inspired by Coast Salish mountain goat horn bracelets.

Surrey Civic Theatres

Gather with friends as you watch actors, dancers, and musicians perform for you on the Main Stage and Studio Theatre, two of the Surrey Civic Theatres’ venues. Patrons have told us “all seats are great” in our 402-seat Main Stage. With a large stage, a fly tower, and generous backstage spaces, it can handle our biggest shows. The Studio Theatre (129 seats) is our most intimate space—people love the ambience. Ideal for smaller-scale performances of every kind, up close and personal is what this space is all about. Our stages are also prized by those who present their own performances. So unplug. Step away from the screens and the streaming, and go live!

When you want to explore your creative side, we’ve got performing arts classes for all ages.

Surrey Art Gallery

Engage with contemporary art through changing exhibitions, permanent artworks, and events like talks, tours, and artmaking days with friends and family.

Surrey Art Gallery is a contemporary art museum that specializes in digital art. Since 1975, more than 10 000 local, national, and international artists have shown their work here. We also offer art classes for all ages and skill levels so you can explore your creative side. There’s something for everyone!

Public art

The Surrey Arts Centre is home to some fabulous public and interactive artworks! Visitors love spinning the large copper disk by Maurice van der Beke called Mandala After a Prayer Wheel, or reading what words will emerge in frost on Alan Storey’s copper panels titled Out of Thin Air. In the parking lot, a series of kinetic banners by Blake Williams adorn the light posts and move with the wind, hence their name, On the Wind.

Discover more public art in Bear Creek Park and Whalley by browsing the City of Surrey’s Public Art Collection.

Gift shop & art rental

Run by the Surrey Art Gallery Association (SAGA), the Gift Shop is a must-visit destination to find unique and finely crafted artworks by local artists from the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and the Gulf Islands.

Choose from decorative and functional pottery, handcrafted jewellery, limited edition prints, hand blown glass, artisan soaps, paintings, photography, turned wood, fabric art, and art cards.

While you’re there, browse the wide selection of artwork available for monthly rental or sale on display in the Gift Shop and nearby hallway. The Art Rental and Sale program gives art lovers the opportunity to enjoy artworks by local artists in their homes and offices.
