Influenced by western and eastern historical art about agriculture, Sylvia Grace Borda uses new technologies such as Google Street View and digital stereoscopy to depict South of Fraser farm land and the labourers who work this land.
Borda repositions the modern practice of farming in the Surrey and Fraser Valley growing basin in the context of historical art vocabularies, and brings it into the foreground as a contemporary art subject through the use of photography and video.
This One's for the Farmer was a project that contains a number of components developed from her summer residency.
Borda presented the following components in the TechLab:
- Aura comprised of 3-D stereo video 2 channel presentation for viewing on iPads with a Holmes stereo-viewer.
- Farm Tableau Series - digital photographic projects created using Google Street View.

- View Medomist Farm Ltd, Surrey, BC
- View Finley's Rhododendrons, Surrey, BC

- Farm Work - a 2 channel video projection of multiple views of farmers at work.
- Stereoviews - two points of perspective if not three - a presentation of 3-D imagery from the artist's investigation into stereoscopy.
The project was presented as part of the exhibition Figuring Ground: Sylvia Grace Borda and Jeremy Herndl and in conjunction with Borda's Surrey UrbanScreen exhibition Aerial Fields.
