Surrey Pride returns to the museum for a Show & Share display in time for Pride Month (June). A collection of personal objects and photos on loan from community members are featured. The objects show the diversity of Surrey’s Rainbow community and offer insights into the many experiences that help build personal identity. 

About the Show and Share Space

What is the one thing all objects in a museum have in common? That they are significant—to someone. Maybe not to historians or archaeologists, but to someone. Show and Share celebrates what is special to you. The display of 24 square foot cubes is curated by the community. Items are lent by citizens with a brief description.

Show and Tell Pride 2023

Your identity is made up of a million tiny moments the entire time you’ve been alive. It has been formed from experiences, and people, and even objects. Museum of Surrey has a special display to show off objects that tell stories, it is called “Show and Share”.

From May 30 to September 3, 2023, the Show and Share display will feature objects from Surrey’s Rainbow community. Share your story of culture, values, or personal history. What objects do you have that commemorate important moments in your life? What about the shirt you wore when you first came out? It could be an award you won, a photograph, or a special book that changed your life.The item does not need to be Pride/Rainbow related – but is an object with a story that shows the diversity of our Surrey Rainbow community.

To lend an item for this exhibit, please bring your object to Museum of Surrey during museum hours between May 1 to 21.

Tuesday to Saturday: 9:30am to 5:30pm
Sunday: 12 noon to 5pm

• Items will be securely displayed in a locked showcase along with your name and up to 150 words about your object on a museum label.
• Objects should be appropriate for public display, be safe, and in reasonable condition.
• This is a temporary display and you will need to pick your item up at the end of the exhibit.
• Items should fit within a cube 1 ft x 1 ft x 1 ft or smaller.
• Larger sized items will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Pride Show & Share will be on display at Museum of Surrey from May 30 to September 3, 2023.
