Surrey, BC – Museum of Surrey is thrilled to announce Teens: Creative Minds a travelling exhibition from the J. Armand Bombardier Museum of Ingeniosity. The new featured exhibit will open on Tuesday, April 23 and run until August 4, 2024, and it focuses on celebrating young innovators and inventors, encouraging visitors to explore their creative potential.
Exhibit highlights include interactive modules that engage teens directly in the creative process and real-world examples of the positive change that comes from innovation and invention. Additional content will highlight five young innovators from Surrey, demonstrating the entrepreneurial spirit of young residents of Surrey. This exhibition was produced by the J. Armand Bombardier Museum of Ingenuity with the collaboration of the Université de Sherbrooke. This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada and the J. Armand Bombardier Foundation.
“This exhibition shows how people from all walks of life can be creative when they explore and are curious. We are excited to host an exhibit that is inspiring, demonstrating how every one of us has the potential to make a difference in the world,” said Lynn Saffery, Museum Manager.
In the Indigenous Hall, the Museum will host Witness Blanket, a reproduction of a powerful art installation by master carver Carey Newman and is circulated by The Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg. Inspired by a woven blanket, this cedar‐framed artwork is made of hundreds of items from residential schools survivors, churches, governments, and other cultural sites across Canada. Each item tells a story of loss, strength, resilience, and pride. Visitors can check this exhibit from May 9 to July 21.
