December 12, 2011 - Is it Your Turn to be the Designated Driver?

A designated driver is the person who chooses not to drink so that they can drive others home safely.  This holiday season we’re asking everyone to share the responsibility of being the designated driver. Is it your turn to get your family and friends home safely? If you haven’t taken your turn as designated driver lately – there’s no time like the present.

Did you know?

No amount of coffee, cold showers, fresh air or food will make you sober—not even that extra serving of turkey and pie! The only cure is time

Planning a holiday party?

Whether you are celebrating with family, friends or colleagues, make sure you’re prepared with an ICBC CounterAttack community kit.

December CounterAttack campaign is on now.

This December, police are stepping up roadchecks to catch impaired drivers. So, if you’re out celebrating, make the smart choice—take a turn to be the designated driver, if you don’t have a designated driver, keep money aside for transit or a taxi, stay overnight, call a sober friend or call your local Operation Red Nose service. For Surrey and Langley the number is (604) 532-0888 or (877) 604-6673.

The best time to decide how to get home safely is before you start drinking.
