The Fusion Festival is excited to welcome a traditional Pow Wow brought to you by Kla-how-eya Aboriginal Centre of SACS. The Pow Wow is the Aboriginal people’s way of meeting together, to join in dancing, singing and visiting, it is a time of renewing old friendships and making new ones.
In fact, the word, ‘Pow Wow’ means “Gathering”.
This is a time to preserve ceremonies of the old ways and a time to conserve a rich heritage by showcasing it to children and youth, and friends from other cultures. All are welcome at a Pow Wow, Aboriginal or anyone who is interested in first nation culture. A dance is even included during the ceremonies called an Intertribal dance. This is when EVERYONE comes into the arena and dances together.
So as you can see a Pow Wow is more than just beautiful customs and tribal singing but a time of sharing.
