Translation – Explanation and Caution

The electronic translation service on the City of Surrey’s web site is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation may vary in some of the languages offered by Google. The goal of the basic translation is to capture the general intention of the original English material.

Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages. Unfortunately, not all the languages spoken in the City of Surrey are translated. Punjabi is one of the languages not currently offered, and to remedy the situation, the City has been in contact with Google and they have committed to making Punjabi available in the future.

The City of Surrey cannot guarantee the quality, accuracy, or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the City encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and the decisions you make.

The City of Surrey offers interpretation services at all its facilities. If you have a question about the material you read on our web site, we encourage you to stop by a City facilities to discuss it. You can also contact the City at (604) 591-4011 to receive interpretation support.

Description:

The City of Surrey (the "Owner") invites Tenders for Tamanawis Fieldhouse.

Work under this Contract comprises the general construction of a 343 m2 (3,692 ft2) 2-storey concrete and block fieldhouse at Tamanawis Park, 12601 – 64th Avenue, Surrey, BC and other related work, all in accordance with the Drawings, Specifications and all duties and obligations imposed upon the Contractor by the contract Documents and in compliance with all Codes, Rules and Regulations of the authorities having jurisdiction.

The Contractor shall perform the complete work described herein or reasonably inferable there from, including all construction services, supervision, administration services, coordination of all Subcontractors, tests, inspections, and other items that are necessary to and appropriate for the finishing, equipping and functioning of the field house, together with all additional, collateral and incidental work and services required for the completion of the work.

As part of the work, the Contractor shall furnish and assume full responsibility for everything required for the orderly progress and proper execution and completion of the Work, whether temporary or permanent and whether or not incorporated into the Work including, but not limited to, materials, equipment, labour, transportation, construction equipment and machinery, tools, appliances, fuel, power, light, heat, telephone, water, sanitary facilities, temporary facilities, utilities and all other facilities and incidentals.

The Contractor will perform and provide the following services or work:

Supply all materials, equipment and labour necessary to design and complete the project in accordance with the attached specifications and drawings (including but not limited to):

i. Installation of all footings and foundation work including any survey work related to construction of building;

ii. Installation of water proofing, connection to Storm, Sanitary and Water mains (these will be installed by City to within 1.5 metres of the field house location) backfilling and final grading within 6” to top of proposed hard and soft landscaping work to be done by City (note: exterior concrete walkways and stairs within 1.5 metres of field house perimeter are in this Contract);

iii. Slab on grade lower floor construction including granular base, insulation and vapour barrier, as per Geotechnical report and consultant drawings with concrete and rebar for slab and footings;

iv. Poured-in-place concrete walls where indicated, including formwork, concrete and rebar, with waterproofing and insulation as detailed;

v. Construction of concrete block walls where indicated complete with pressed steel door frames and service openings;

vi. Suspended concrete slab for the upper floor as detailed, including formwork, concrete and rebar with openings for services;

vii. Supply and installation of Precast or Tilt-Up Concrete walls complete with modified rain screen joint (2-stage joint) using a multi-component polyurethane sealant, and with surface textures and inset graphics at the exterior face;

viii. Supply and Installation of all wood trusses and associated wood framing, 5/8” sheating plywood, rigid insulation, Galvanized Z-Bars, Roofing, snow guards, all flashing material, gutter, facia/trim, gutter and downpipes, etc.;

ix. Supply and installation of Metal doors, frames, and all openers, closers, locks and all finish hardware etc.;

x. Supply and installation of all electrical wiring, conduits, light fixtures, electrical panel/meter base, etc., as per Drawings and specifications, including conduit within block walls and concrete slabs as required;

xi. Supply and installation of all plumbing Fixtures (i.e. except City will supply the three park washroom water closets only for install under this Contract), Auto flush valves, all required piping, pipe insulation, water backflow device, baseboard and force flow heaters, hot water tanks, heat recovery ventilators etc. as per Mechanical Drawings and specifications; and,

xii. All finishing work to interior and exterior surfaces, including walls, ceiling, floors as specified, doors, frames, panels, access hatches, metal brackets etc.

Tenders, completed in accordance with the Instructions To Tenderers on the forms provided must be submitted in a sealed package, clearly marked on the outside with the Tenderers name, title of the project and reference number, and must be received at the office of:

Submissions by fax (or email) will not be accepted.

Tender submission requires the accompaniment of a Bid Bond (or Certified Cheque) in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the Total Tender Price, issued in favour of the City of Surrey, and a Confirmation of Surety to provide a Performance and Labour & Material Payment Bond if the Tender is successful, each in the amount of fifty percent (50%) if the Total Tender Price.

The Owner intends to open the Tenders in private, but reserves the right to open Tenders in public at its sole discretion.
