Translation – Explanation and Caution

The electronic translation service on the City of Surrey’s web site is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation may vary in some of the languages offered by Google. The goal of the basic translation is to capture the general intention of the original English material.

Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages. Unfortunately, not all the languages spoken in the City of Surrey are translated. Punjabi is one of the languages not currently offered, and to remedy the situation, the City has been in contact with Google and they have committed to making Punjabi available in the future.

The City of Surrey cannot guarantee the quality, accuracy, or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the City encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and the decisions you make.

The City of Surrey offers interpretation services at all its facilities. If you have a question about the material you read on our web site, we encourage you to stop by a City facilities to discuss it. You can also contact the City at (604) 591-4011 to receive interpretation support.

Request for Expressions of Interest

Purpose
The purpose of this Request For Expressions of Interest and Statements of Qualifications (RFEOI/SOQ) is to:
(a) invite Submissions from Respondents that describe the desire, relevant expertise and capability of the Respondent to undertake the Project; and
(b) to select a Respondent or Respondent(s) who may be invited to participate in a Request for Proposals (“RFP”) process.
The City may at any time and at its sole discretion decide to cancel this process for any reason.

Project Background
The Surrey Children’s Festival is an annual outdoor event held at Bear Creek Park with performances and activities held in approximately 27 tent structures, three with full stages.

The Project Objectives/Desired Outcomes
To supply the safe, successful and timely execution of the installation and removal of tenting, staging and decking for the Surrey Children’s Festival working with festival staff in a collaborative and respectful manner.

Project Scope
To supply labour, installation and removal of tents, staging and decking for 2012 Surrey Children’s Festival as stated in Schedule A – Specifications of Goods and Scope of Services.

Factors considered include the firm’s history, scope of service abilities, experience of its key personnel and the ability to have the project completed by the dates as stated under Project Timeline.

Project Deliverables
It is a definite requirement that:
- the supplier adheres to the schedule for both the installation and the removal of tents, staging and decking.
- the supplier installs the staging to the satisfaction of the City with the proper supplies agreed upon by the City and the supplier.
- the supplier has all equipment needed in good repair to put up all tents, staging and decking at the beginning of the installation schedule as well as at the end of the removal schedule.
- the supplier has all tenting, staging and decking needed to complete the contract at the beginning of the schedule in case early set up is possible.
- the supplier has all staff needed for completing the contract.
- the installation is completed and approved as per applicable building code.

Project Timeline
Commencement of Delivery and Installation of Tents: May 20, 2012
Completion of Removal of Tents: May 27, 2012

Addenda
If the City determines that an amendment is required to this RFEOI, the City Representative will issue a written addendum by posting it on the BC Bid Website at www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca (the "BC Bid Website") and the City Website at www.surrey.ca (The "City Website") that will form part of this RFEOI. It is the responsibility of the Respondent(s) to check the BC Bid Website and the City Website for addenda. The only way this RFEOI may be added to, or amended in any way, is by a formal written addendum. No other communication, whether written or oral, from any person will affect or modify the terms of this RFEOI or may be relied upon by any Respondent. By delivery of a Submission, Respondent is deemed to have received, accepted and understood the entire RFEOI, including any and all addenda.
