Translation – Explanation and Caution

The electronic translation service on the City of Surrey’s web site is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation may vary in some of the languages offered by Google. The goal of the basic translation is to capture the general intention of the original English material.

Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages. Unfortunately, not all the languages spoken in the City of Surrey are translated. Punjabi is one of the languages not currently offered, and to remedy the situation, the City has been in contact with Google and they have committed to making Punjabi available in the future.

The City of Surrey cannot guarantee the quality, accuracy, or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the City encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and the decisions you make.

The City of Surrey offers interpretation services at all its facilities. If you have a question about the material you read on our web site, we encourage you to stop by a City facilities to discuss it. You can also contact the City at (604) 591-4011 to receive interpretation support.

The Mini Musical Theatre Intensive

Have a passion for musical theatre?
Love to act, sing and dance?

Led by industry professionals, The Mini Musical Theatre Intensive trains students to become better actors, singers, and dancers, enhancing their 'triple-threat' performance skills!

  • March 12 – 16, 2012 (Spring Break)
  • 10am – 4pm

APPLICATION INFORMATION

Prerequisites

Applicants must have any two of the following:

  • Two years dance training
  • One year private voice training
  • One year singing with a school or community choir
  • One year of acting/drama classes
  • Experience performing in a school or community musical

Students will

  • work with industry professionals to develop acting, singing, and dancing skills
  • apply skills in a group song and dance number
  • gain insight into Vancouver’s musical theatre community
  • meet other young people with similar aspirations and interests
  • invite family and friends to the final session
  • attend the wrap-up reception for students, instructors, and guests

Application process

An application form must be submitted. The application form is available:

  • as a pdf you can download (you can type directly into the .pdf, or print it and write your responses), or
  • in person at the Surrey Arts Centre.

Complete the application form and submit it to the Surrey Arts Centre:

  • as an attachment to arts@surrey.ca using the subject line "MTI Application" (you can type directly into the pdf version of the application form, or you can scan the form if you choose to print it and write your responses)
  • by mail to Surrey Arts Centre, 13750 88 Avenue, Surrey BC, V3W 3L1
  • by fax to 604-501-5581
  • in person to our reception desk

Application forms will be referred to the Program Director, Peter Jorgensen, for consideration.

All applicants will be contacted by phone no later than March 1, 2012. Those accepted will be registered with payment due at that time.

The Musical Theatre Intensive was founded by Peter Jorgensen in partnership with Arts Club Theatre Company. The Mini Intensive can be a great supplement to, or preparation for, the full length Intensive that takes place for two weeks each summer.
