Surrey Environmental Extravaganza

Here's what happened during the second week of the 2017 Environmental Extravaganza! Keep an eye out for the 2018 schedule coming soon.

Shorekeepers Training Workshop
Join us for a workshop about marine habitats and citizen science! A short classroom introduction will be followed by a beach outing for skills training for surveys in June and July. Family Habitat Restoration Day
Join us for nature games and hands-on habitat restoration! Get your hands dirty planting native trees and shrubs and removing invasive plants like Himalayan Blackberry and English Ivy. All ages welcome to participate, gloves and tools provided.

Arbor Day
Join us as we celebrate Surrey’s 13th annual Arbor Day - a day to celebrate trees! Help plant over 50 shade trees in Hazelgrove Park and enjoy live music, nature activities, refreshments and more! All equipment provided. All ages. Rain or shine.

Darts Hill Open House and Plant Sale
Wander among the mature trees and flowering shrubs of this 7.5 acre plantsman’s garden and check out our children’s plant hunt, plant sale, or a guided walk (leaves at 11:30am from the meet and greet area). Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions.

Coastal Native Plants Garden Tour
Come out for a tour celebrating the beauty and usefulness of native plants, including how to use them in your garden. Meet a representative of the Native Plant Society who will guide you on this two garden tour. Refreshments will be served. Rain or shine - dress for the weather! Pre-registration required; e-mail

Kick-start your nature adventure with a Nature Guide in our Sky Room stocked with books, puppets, natural materials and opportunities for hands-on exploration. Stay, play and learn, then head outside to extend your adventure with discoveries in the forest. All ages, drop in.
