Weddings in Surrey Parks

Outdoor chapel in Bear Creek Park.

The City has many lovely park settings ideal for small wedding ceremonies, like the chapel and gardens at Bear Creek Park. Most parks are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note wedding ceremonies are not permitted at the Surrey Nature Centre (except indoors with a facility rental), Darts Hill Garden Park, Green Timbers Urban Forest, The Glades, or the arboretum in Redwood Park.

The maximum size for all locations is 100 people. Larger groups will not be permitted.

Garden Parks Available for Weddings:

Weddings at Crescent Beach

Wedding ceremonies at Crescent Beach may only be set up on the passive grass areas at Wickson Point, Sullivan Point or south of Beecher Place to prevent damage to environmentally sensitive areas and shoreline habitat. Wedding ceremonies on the beach or anywhere within Blackie Spit are not permitted. Please note that Beecher Place is a bookable facility, popular for small weddings and other events. Please contact the Alexandra Nieghbourhood House to ensure there are no conflicting festivities planned.

Set Up & Decorations

Ceremonies may be set up in a vacant location on passive grass without restricting access to other park users.

You are welcome to put up decorations using tape or string, but please don't use staples or nails as these may damage the trees and structures. Decorations must be removed immediately following your ceremony.

Serving Food

You may BBQ with propane BBQs but please do not place your BBQ directly on any picnic table or other structure as this may damage the surface. You may have your event catered, however, your caterer must not solicit or advertise business in the park and may only serve guests of your party.

Tents & Structures
You may use one 10x10ft tent with tent weights (preferred) or small pegs (4-6 inches). You may not put up larger tents, pergolas or other structures.

Chairs
To minimize damage to the grass from chair legs, we request that the number of chairs be kept to a minimum and that you use chairs with horizontal bar legs and not peg legs.

Music & Speakers
You may use a small portable stereo or microphone for your officiate. Please do not use large speakers to amplify voice or music.

Please also note the following restrictions for all locations:

Once you have your ceremony details, please call 604.501.5050 or eMail  partnersinparks@surrey.ca with your name and contact number, as well as the date and time of your ceremony, park location, and number of guests expected. This will help us keep track of crowds and will allow us to inform you of City events or other large parties expected in the park on the same day.
Please note this is not a reservation but for record keeping purposes only.

Thank you and enjoy your special day!
