Emergency prepardness package for the home

Making sure you have enough supplies to be on your own without help is one of the most important steps you can take in preparing for a disaster or emergency. Make sure you have enough supplies for at least 72 hours for you and everyone in your home.

You should prepare a few different emergency supply kits:

  • Personal Emergency Supply Kit
This kit will be for your home, in an easy to grab location (like a hall closet) and have enough supplies for you and everyone in your home for three days.
  • Workplace Emergency Supply Kit
This is a kit you would keep in your workplace with emergency supplies in case you are in your office or other place of work when a disaster stikes.
  • Grab and Go Evacuation Kit
This kit is an easily portable kit that you can take with you in the even that you're evcuated from your home. This kit should be kept in a backpack or duffle bag.
  • Vehicle Emergency Kit
This kit should be kept in your vehicle in the event that you're in your vehicle during an emergency and may have to stay there for a short time.
  • Pet Emergency Supply Kit
This kit will have enough food and water for your pet for at least 72 hours, as well as any medications your pets require and other pet supplies you might need if evacuated.

Hint: Save small samples from hotels, plane trips, etc. to put towards your kits.
