Translation – Explanation and Caution

The electronic translation service on the City of Surrey’s web site is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation may vary in some of the languages offered by Google. The goal of the basic translation is to capture the general intention of the original English material.

Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages. Unfortunately, not all the languages spoken in the City of Surrey are translated. Punjabi is one of the languages not currently offered, and to remedy the situation, the City has been in contact with Google and they have committed to making Punjabi available in the future.

The City of Surrey cannot guarantee the quality, accuracy, or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the City encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and the decisions you make.

The City of Surrey offers interpretation services at all its facilities. If you have a question about the material you read on our web site, we encourage you to stop by a City facilities to discuss it. You can also contact the City at (604) 591-4011 to receive interpretation support.

The City is committed to enhancing the accessibility of its web site to all its citizens, and appreciates any feedback that it receives.

There are a wide range of volunteer opportunities available across the City of Surrey. To learn more about these opportunities, choose from the areas of interest below.

Parks, Recreation & Culture

Opportunities include the Surrey Arts Centre, Heritage Services, City-Wide Special Events, SPIRIT, Partners in Parks, Community Recreation, and Environmental Programs and Surrey Nature Centre.

Surrey Emergency Program

The Surrey Emergency Program branches into the following 4 functions: Emergency Social Services (ESS), Neighbourhood Emergency Preparedness Program, Surrey Search & Rescue and Surrey Amateur Radio.

Surrey Fire Department

The Surrey Fire Service is seeking men and women interested in serving as Volunteer Firefighters (paid on/call). If you have the desire to help your community, believe in excellence at performing any job, then the members of the Surrey Fire Service want you to join the team!

RCMP

Be a part of the Surrey RCMP Auxiliary Constable program. We are looking for individuals to strengthen community and Police partnerships by taking part in strategies to reduce crime and disorder. Other opportunities include volunteering at the District Offices and with the Restorative Justice (RJ) Program.

Surrey Public Library

Opportunities include Homebound Clients Delivery Drivers for adults and the Coast Capital Reading Buddy Program for teens 14-18. If you enjoy working with people, have interest and enthusiasm for books and reading become part of our services and help our community

Engineering & Environment

Become a salmon steward! Join the City of Surrey's volunteers by becoming a Coho Crew member and participate in work parties at local creeks.  An exciting initiative to protect our local salmon and trout in Surrey's streams and creeks.  Make a positive impact by participating in fun outdoor environmental activities such as: storm drain marking, community outreach and education as well as volunteer opportunities set up for Coho Crew members.
