The City of Surrey has several heritage-related plans, strategies and guidelines. Review our brochures about heritage planning, design guidelines for specific heritage features, a heritage strategic review (and accompanying update) and numerous neighbourhood heritage studies.
We are also developing a Historic Context Statement and Thematic Framework for the City. This document will explore the major thematic events involved in the historical development of the City. It will break the themes of the Historic Context Statement down into examples of local heritage sites, each of which represent one or more of the historical themes.
Surrey's Heritage Strategic Review and 2016 Heritage Strategic Review Implementation Plan Update outline the vision, goals and prioritized strategies for Surrey’s Heritage Program.
These documents:
- provide a background of past heritage awareness and planning initiatives,
- review key components of the existing program,
- define the community’s vision, goals and strategies for the program, and
- propose an implementation plan to execute the strategies and actions that will help the City realize its renewed vision.
