Safe Mobility Plan
Safe mobility is about reducing the risk of harm on our streets for all road users
Safe mobility means moving around safely on our roads and sidewalks, which is an important part of a healthier and safer community. The City is developing a Safe Mobility Plan because road safety is a critical element of our vision of transportation working for everyone. To achieve this vision, our streets must accommodate pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and drivers, while also allowing for the efficient movement of goods (e.g. deliveries by trucks). The goal of the Safe Mobility Plan is to move towards a future with zero traffic fatalities and injuries in Surrey.
“The goal of the Safe Mobility Plan is to move towards a future with zero traffic fatalities and injuries in Surrey.” – Jaime Boan, Manager Transportation
While improving engineering infrastructure is an important part, we believe that everyone has a role to play in making our streets safer, through personal responsibility and following the rules of the road.
The program is evidence-based, data-driven and targeted to focus on key areas in traffic safety for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
The Plan will identify a number of actions aimed at reducing crashes and injuries, and saving lives on our roads.
- Signalized Intersections
- Vulnerable Road Users
- Impaired, Distracted & Speeding Drivers
