Surrey, BC – The City of Surrey's 6th annual Tree Lighting Festival, presented by Coast Capital Savings, will take place on Saturday, November 21, 12:00 – 7:00pm, at City Hall Plaza. Entrance to the festival is FREE. Join Mayor Hepner as she lights up the 55’ high tree at 6:45pm.
“The Tree Lighting Festival has become a wonderful Surrey tradition for opening the Christmas season,” said Mayor Linda Hepner. “I look forward to lighting the tree and celebrating with the community on November 21!”
Back by popular demand are Frozen’s famous sisters, Anna and Elsa. Musical entertainment will include festive favourites from the “Holiday Tribute Trio”, featuring The Beatles, Elvis and Michael Buble tribute acts.
“I am delighted to see the Surrey Tree Lighting Festival bring the community together for another year,” said Don Coulter president and CEO of Coast Capital Savings. “Coast Capital has been helping build richer futures for communities like Surrey for 75 years and it is an honour to be a part of this holiday tradition.”
There will be loads of family activities such as: Letters to Santa Station, ferris wheel, igloo, life-sized snow globe, road hockey, ice-carving, Christmas artisans, food trucks, plus photos with Santa inside Central City Mall. The Surrey Food Bank will be onsite collecting non-perishable food items, and Surrey Fire Fighters will be collecting new toys for Surrey’s Christmas Bureau.
