Blue Rodeo perform at 2015 Surrey Canada Day

July 2, 2015

Surrey, BC – Canadian rock royalty, Blue Rodeo, helped a crowd of more than 100,000 celebrate at Surrey’s annual Canada Day Celebration, presented by Coast Capital Savings. Over 100 exhibitors, midway games and rides, and a fireworks extravaganza rounded out the celebration of what was Canada’s 148th birthday.

“Surrey’s 2015 Canada Day Celebration was another fantastic banner event for our growing city,” said Mayor Linda Hepner. “Enthusiastic attendance year after year at our largest event is a testament to the strong sense of community we have built in Surrey. A special thanks to all our sponsors, particularly Coast Capital Savings, CTV and Chevron, whose support makes this wonderful celebration possible for all our citizens.”

Opening for Blue Rodeo were alternative artists, The Zolas; other Main Stage acts included newcomers Little India, and country music favourite, Me and Mae. The fireworks musical mash-up was produced by BC DJ collectives, The Freshest.

“It is wonderful to see so many families out enjoying the entertainment, activities and fun,” said Councillor Bruce Hayne, Chair of the Parks, Recreation & Sport Tourism Committee. “Surrey has become well-known for delivering outstanding events, and this year’s Canada Day Celebration was no exception.”
