More than 15,000 attend Party for the Planet
April 28, 2015
Surrey, BC - Over 15,000 people attended Saturday’s Party for the Planet festival. This annual event is the largest Earth Day celebration in BC.
Party for the Planet, sponsored by TD, included entertainment from headline performer Five Alarm Funk as well as additional performances by Good for Grapes and Charlotte Diamond. Also in attendance was special guest, Curious George, who planted a Monkey Puzzle Tree with Mayor Hepner to commemorate the event.
“Party for the Planet is BC's premier Earth Day event and I am proud it is hosted by Surrey," said City of Surrey Mayor, Linda Hepner. "The event showcases the many ways that Surrey is taking a leadership role in adopting sustainable programs and infrastructure."
This year's Party for the Planet also hosted the return of both its popular tree sale and the Surrey Urban Farmers Market with produce and wares from local farmers and artisans. A new addition to this year's event was the Enviro bungee which was powered by solar energy and light bulb recycle zone.
